Education plays an important role in the progress of an individual’s mind and country. Ignorance and poverty are major speed-breakers in the swift developing country and can be overcome easily through education.A person who is educated has a certain aura around him, of dignity and wisdom.Education is everything. People are made aware of what is going on in the wide world and can understand these issues and take necessary measures. If people are educated, it is not difficult to find a job- keeping in mind the fact that no job is low. Education tames the astray mind, nurturing its capabilities the same way training builds a clever dog.
So lets plan up to enhance the intellect of the students of our school and its the time to judge our initiative .Is our initiative really helping these kids..???
This is a call for all the suggestions that could help us find a vision where we are
heading towards.

I guess we should have an evaluation of the kids on the basis of their knowledge..I mean an annual examination ..because whatever is the way the main motive is to teach them and enlighten the lamp of knowlegde. We can even add up classes for the weaker students on saturdays for better assistance....what say guys???
I fully agree upon onething that what be it-we need to do more-to bring about a difference in their lives-how is the only quection we need to have answers to-I thus request each one of us to pour in all ur ideas to this effect,how whacky or an absurd be it-we need to act smartly within our limited time so that we create an impact with whatever we do-the next time that we meet we'll have all these ideas jotted down n when we end up the meeting-we should have a clear cut action plan in place-So come on guys-with such a wonderful bunch of people that we are-lets prove a point with the power of ideas!
Idea no.2(after parul's idea)-We should rope in a doctor, have a medical examination of the kids,call the parents of the kids on the occassion & ask the doctors to spread the word of a clean healthy living-this is required b'coz our sermons may not have an effect on the kids or their parents but they do take the Doctors' words seriously & the parents & kids who do try to show an effort in creating cleanliness & a healthy living be given free treatment etc.I know this is difficult & should be planned keeping their lives & limitations in view.
ok I have one more idea. This is basically to convince those parents whose students are not registered in our school or simply illiterate once.
We should teach them some handicraft skills besides their studies. Anuradha Ma'am have told us about exhibition of those craft work like bags , baskets ,etc. Through this they can learn a skill which will help them throughout their life . In the future if they ever want to earn their living, they can use these skills. They can have these classes for 1 hr daily or in the weekends.
The population where we go to teach doesn't think beyond their daily wages which provide them food. So how can they think about only and only educating their children . Most of them bring up their child in a manner which can help him to earn something. If we provide this(skills) to them ....then I think this can increase literacy rate.
yes ofcourse their education , knowledge and health comes first.

But we know the imp of health and education But they do not know. We must sensitize them for education, health, clean environment etc. otherwise aft some time they will forget. But the question is how we can do this.

The question of how is of prime importance-We need to involve the parents-thats for sure-our previous efforts have foiled b'oz we never get to meet the parents as they r off to work-so this time we need to convey it beforehand n find out a time when we get to meet more of them.Secondly its only them that can bring abt cleanliness in their areas-for this we need to make some 'safai darogas'who'll be responsible for a particular stretch n will be given some benefits in the form of perhaps free edu. to their kids,free medical checkups,jobs to them etc.'pralobhan se parivartan' should be our motto.We should try n find out some respected elders of the society n involve them in our movement b'coz any such past movements teach us that success can be achieved oly through local participation.

sirf bachchon ko he batana hai humein cleanliness ......symtoms of diseases .....how they happen.....ways to prevent them.....coz agar hum unke mind ko effect kar paaye tu unki lyf change ho sakti hai......i m really not concerned abt the whole society....coz the elderly ones are so stubborn that even if you are goin to howl infront of them,d whole day,even then they are not goin to change themselves....they r just helpless.....

kuch important baatein jaise ki.....agar bachchon ko ye bataya jaaye ki sirf earn karna he sufficient nahi hota hai....its important to save money.....and we should avoid wasting our money on smoking drinking and gambling.....coz the society in which we go n teach.....uski main problem sirf less income nahi hai....uski main problem hai....worst expenditure on things like smoking gambling n drinking............

so plan something that can be completed in few hours so that we are able to deliver our best....

Hi Sanket-nice to c u back.Hope u r doing great. n great sugestions.As for thinking practical-a Doctor's checkup doesn't require more than 3 hrs on a weekend, ya handicrafts exhibition does but its not the goal-goal is to teach them something which can excite them n at the same time provide them with an all time clean source of some bucks-such programmes can't happen without an expert of this field-we r here to plan n get things executed-of course we cannot go out n expect that we on our own will make them so self dependent-but surely if we plan properly n pool in our resources of time,money n contacts-we can have it done.I say this Sanket b'coz either we do smthng that changes their life to some extent or we just sit n blog-they r anyways been taught-they will anyway live the way they r used to, many will stop studying after 5th n take on sm job etc.N its simplay great the wat u protested others' suggestions becoz that is the very essence of a fruitful debate-who ever succeeds helps leave over ideas which r crystal clear in one's minds.So carry on guys.

but still i wanna stick to this idea that students ka ek baar evaluation b hona chahiye,, kuki hume school ka education system usi hisab se set karna hoga..i m not against cleaniless...or rahi baat quality time ki...its just an examination..paper bannane main zada time lagega nai..or ek din ka xam..that wont fetch much of the time...i m totally in favour of the health drive but still we have many students who yet cant do basic mathematics and cannot still formulate a sentence....so i stilll find a need for education..
n it is important for them to atleast know certain things..n its just not about studies..
N about that time thing i guess changing their mind would b damn difficult..sirf 1 ghante k lecture main dey wont really learn the proper utilisation of money..But still its an nice idea regarding savig money
N believe me..whatever we have discussed in this blog can actually b converted into a feasible drive rather then emotional....
we guys are human n we gotta b emotional...but these points we as emotional and practical as it sounds.......
Parul I also agree wid u .Each n everything which we have discussed over here can be done actually. nothing is hypothetical .carry on wid ur idea. Talk to those teachers who goes on weekdays . They can carry on wid these papers n evaluation of the children n those who goes on weekend like us can carry on wid cleanliness , health , handicraft ,teaching them abt bad effects of smoking n anything which is of their use.

Ab seriously lag raha hai ki blog ka purpose fulfil ho raha hai-I spoke to Anuradha mam n discussed abt the feasibility of the Handicraft training-She says that the trainer wd b only having the issue of commuting from IIM to Aashiana as it will be a week long workshop+ the school schedule as well as it might b closed after examinations-we have to thus sort these out n properly plan for the exhibition post the training so that the kids realise that we are'nt doing smthng cosmetic but its really going to help them in life-so lets gear up guys- its our test n the test of how well we r able to manage our limited resources. I'm sure we'll pass!
Ecstatic to see the surge of ideas...all of them are brilliant. All the ideas , if well planned,with short goals as fixed measurables to judge the feasibility would work wonders.
In my view educating is not just learning by rote...but communicating, exploring, inspiring , enriching and thus making a difference to the life of a person ( elder or child does not matter).It could be health, history, science, hygiene , handicrafts ...etc etc...the list can go on. Evaluating (exams/tests) the information given to them would only be fair , or else we/they would never know our standing/ achievement...on the basis of which our step forward would be based.So Parul i must say that this is a swell idea.

I think v shud plan for this PT meeting beforehand . v shud keep some points to discuss wid d parents
1. It shud be conducted to ensure dat the parents of the children remain motivated to send their children to the school.
2. discuss about their future plan esp girl child.
3.time devoted by the kid fr his homework.
4.about his (child ) timetable at home.
Likewise , plz suggest some more pts. Bcoz these things would help in providing soln. to some problems n'll unveil some facts also...for eg their habits.
I feel just calling the parents for a ptm won't work as they wd not turn up-just take it this way-why should they turn up leaving their work when perhaps its not smthng not very high on their priority-we'd have to club the ptm along with sm other event which can attract them.I don't say we shouldn't try but its a just a feeling that they might not turn up.Hope i'm wrong!

here i am. so sorree for being away electronically for so long but i was very much connected with whatever was going on at the centre.
It's absolutely fantastic to see all of u so active and committed on the blog as well as on the ground,so a big CONGRATULATIONs to u all for your dedication,zeal,ideas,actions and above all the CONVICTION in what u r into-that's to add value n beauty in their lives.
i was trying to catch up with the outpour of comments,and felt touched by your concern.We have been regularly interacting wit Ashish and i have been sharing the information with him on what all we can take up one by one.
i would love to meet all of u myself,let's see how soon that would be,but before that i'll discuss with Ashish about our next major activity for these kids in Apr.09.- medical camp /art n craft workshop/theatre workshop/.
He will update u. It's certainly important to meet the parents of these kids and health camp could be a good way to start with. I talk to Vaibhav & Ashish and come back fast.till then continue with your meaningful gup-sup and have a great time. it's always good to see people united for a good cause. By the way are u all going to vote . Exercise yr right in a right way.
